June is Packed with Grazing Education Opportunities Across Kansas

June is shaping up to be an exciting month for Kansas producers, landowners, and grazing enthusiasts. The Kansas Grazing Lands Coalition (KGLC) is partnering with industry experts and experienced producers to offer a series of FREE educational workshops focused on goats, soil health, water quality, and regenerative grazing management.

Whether you're interested in starting a goat enterprise, improving pasture productivity, or learning how soil health impacts your operation, there is a workshop designed for you.

Raising and Grazing Goats Academy

Join experienced goat producers Mary Powell and Lora Frick for one of three two-day goat schools at SAVE Farm in Riley, Kansas. Participants will learn everything from selecting the right goats and herd health management to breeding, kidding, fencing, finances, and land management using goats. Some hands-on health care experience will also be included.

Grazing Management for Soil Health & Water Quality

Presented by Cindy Thomas and Doug Peterson, these one-day grazing schools will focus on practical ways producers can improve soil health and water quality through grazing management. Topics include soil health principles, the power of soil biology, fence and water basics, integrating cover crops into grazing systems, and practical approaches to implementing soil health practices on working operations.

Enhancing Your Grazing From the Ground Up

Internationally recognized rancher and educator Steve Kenyon of Greener Pastures Ranching Ltd. in Alberta, Canada, will lead a three-day workshop series focused on building healthier ecosystems from the soil up. Participants will explore soil development, water cycle restoration, biodiversity, and ecological grazing management through Steve's engaging and thought-provoking approach to ranching. Topics include "We Grow Soil," "It's All About the Water," "Livin' On the Edge," and "What Bugs Me."

All workshops are FREE thanks to funding support from USDA-NRCS. Registration is requested to assist with planning and lunch counts. These events provide an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced educators, connect with fellow producers, and gain practical ideas you can apply immediately to your operation.
