Great Plains Grassland Initiative (GPGI)

Rangelands are under the stress of woody plant invasion, which is leading to decreased rangeland productivity, livestock production, and biodiversity. In addition, woody plant encroachment increases the risk of wildfires due to increased fuel.

USDA NRCS, through the Great Plains Grassland Initiative, is working to mitigate this threat and save the grassland areas of the Great Plains.
