Recap: 2024 Kansas Range Academies
We are grateful for another successful year of Kansas Range Academies! With three engaging events held across the state: the Mixed Grass, Tallgrass, and Shortgrass Academies. Each gathering brought together passionate landowners, ranchers, conservationists, and natural resource professionals, all united by a common goal—building generational resiliency on our rangelands.

Hands-On Learning Across Kansas
At each academy, attendees engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, from plant identification and ecological site descriptions to grazing demonstrations and monitoring range conditions. These interactive sessions provided practical insights into managing rangelands sustainably, ensuring that they remain healthy and productive for future generations.
Conservation in Action
Participants also had the opportunity to tour local ranches, where they discussed conservation concerns and strategies directly with fellow ranchers and experts. These real-world experiences highlighted the importance of maintaining plant diversity, improving soil health, and managing invasive species—all crucial components of resilient rangelands.
A Shared Commitment to the Future
While each event was unique in its location and landscape, the overarching theme was the same: a shared commitment to preserving Kansas rangelands for generations to come. The exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences among attendees created a strong foundation for continued collaboration and innovation in rangeland management.
Looking Forward
As we reflect on the success of the 2024 Kansas Range Academies, we’re excited about the future of our rangelands and the ongoing work to protect and enhance them. Whether you attended one of the events or followed along from afar, we hope the lessons learned and connections made will inspire you to take action in your own rangeland management efforts.
Thank you to everyone who participated in making these academies a success. Together, we are building a resilient future for Kansas rangelands.
