Prescribed Burn Site Preparation Field Day

Interested in prescribed burning as a management tool on your grazing lands? Join the Kansas Grazing Lands Coalition for a hands-on field day focused on preparing for a safe and effective prescribed burn.

We’ll start at the Elder’s Center with a brief overview before heading into the field to visit targeted prescribed burn sites.

We’ll discuss:
• Objectives and timing for prescribed burns
• Site preparation for dormant and growing season burns
• Developing a Prescribed Burn Plan
• Using prescribed fire to address invasive species and woody encroachment

This field day is geared toward landowners, ranchers, and anyone interested in using prescribed fire as a grazing land management tool.

The workshop will wrap up around noon following field visits, discussion, and questions.
