How Trees can Affect a Prairie?

Posted Friday June 3, 2022

In this video, Doug Spencer explains the effect that trees have on the prairie. He shares that trees negatively impact and put prairie landscapes at risk.

Tree seeds are dispersed within 1 to 200 yards and are spread further by wildlife such as birds.

"One seed producing tree can have an impact of 26 acres."

Doug mentions how the Great Plains Grassland Initiative works to keep grasslands tree-free and seed-free.
