Kansas Ranching: That Darn Plant (Sericea lespedeza) Presented by KGLC & USDA

Posted Wednesday September 16, 2020

Kansas rancher, Bill Sproul talks about Sericea lespedeza and how that darn plant is invading everywhere.

Learn how NRCS is helping Bill develop a burn plan to prevent this prolific seed producer from reproducing with a fall burn on August 30th for 3 years. His hope on the fourth year, (when Sericea lespedeza is in full bloom), is to spray (even though he hates to spray chemical).

Listen to the plan Bill developed and how he expects it to work to control the spread of that darn plant during the next four years with a non-traditional burn, 3 years in a row.
