The Importance of the Beaver on the Tallgrass Prairie
Posted Wednesday August 19, 2020

Bill Sproul, Kansas rancher, shares an entertaining story about a beaver and the massive scour hole it created on his land.

As the 2015 Leopold Conservation Award winner, he admits that his knee-jerk reaction (upon assessing the damage and thinking about the repair cost involved) was to kill the beaver!

He shares how the beaver taught him a few valuable lessons and how he came to the realization that he needed to learn to co-exist with the beaver, as well as, all of the wildlife on his land.
