Tallgrass Legacy Alliance Meeting & Ranch Tour

Date: 03/26/20
Location: Beaumont, KS

Dr. Tom Carr will be our Lunch & Learn speaker.

Tom was raised on a cattle ranch near Medicine Lodge and received his B.S. and M.S. animal science degrees from Kansas State University and his Ph.D. degree in food science from Oklahoma State University.

He retired from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in August 2010 after serving in a teaching-extension position for 36 years. Upon retirement, Dr. Carr and his wife, Jo, moved to Medicine Lodge where they now operate the family ranch located between Medicine Lodge and Coldwater.

Tom is very active in grassland improvement on the ranch and has a great amount of information to share with us. I will send Tom’s full bio as we near the meeting date. Suffice it to say now, that his career was long and illustrious.

In the afternoon we will travel just a few miles south to visit with John Wagner of 4L Grazing on the Ferrell Ranch. John uses multi-species grazing (goats and cattle) and rotation grazing on the ranch and has achieved tremendous success in improving range condition while increasing stocking rates through rotation grazing.
