Creating Drought Resilient Soils

Date: 02/28/19
Time: 11:30am
Location: Protection Township Library

“Creating Drought Resilient Soils and Continuous No-till,” will feature Dale Strickler and Lance Feikert. Dale is an agronomist for Green Cover Seed, based out of Bladen Nebraska. He grew up on a diversified farm near Colony Kansas, then attended Kansas State University, achieving both BS and MS degrees in Agronomy. He taught agronomy at Cloud County Community College for 15 years, and has been an agronomist for Land O’Lakes, Star Seed, and Valent USA prior to working with Green Cover Seed.

Dale also has his own ranching operation near Jamestown Kansas, where he puts his theories into action.  Our second speaker of the day, Lance Feikert, a fifth generation producer from the Ford-Kingsdown area, will be talking about his work with continuous no-till. He has been experimenting with cover crops for six years. Lance has also been experimenting with pollinator strips and companion crop in sorghum plots the last two years to combat the sugarcane aphid.
